Various religious festivals are held in Sri Lanka. Today I am going to tell you about the Vesak festival. Vesak is a national festival in Sri Lanka. It is the most important festival to the Buddhists . It marks three important events of the Buddha's life.

There are the birth of prince Siddhartha, enlightenment of the Bodhisatta and the passing away of the Buddha. Many Buddhists observe sil  on this day. They participate in various religious activities. They make Vesak lanterns of different shapes and sizes. They decorate their houses with Buddhist flags, lanterns and light bulbs. They  illuminate their houses with coloured bulbs. They engage in various meritorious activities. They go to temples and listen sermons. The Buddhists decorate even the streets with the Buddhist flag and lanterns. You can see pandols in all main cities on Vesak days 😍🙏. Alms giving to the needy is one of the activities organized this day 🙏.
