How are you guys...😊😊. Today I am get ready to talk about the Garbage problem in Sri Lanka. The problem of garbage has become one of the burning problem in Sri Lanka in present. Actually it has become from bad to worse. This problem is very serious specially in Colombo city 😕. In fact, the residents of Colombo city and suburbs are facing a serious environmental crisis and they face a huge health risk as tons of waste and garbage continue to accumulate to mountainous sizes.

Solid waste pollutes the environment. When the garbage is piled up, it will start to rot. In the process, it produces a bad stench can be unbearable. There will be no fresh air for people to inhale and enjoy because of this. Other than that, there are some people who dispose polythene as garbage. The biggest problem related to polythene is that most type of polythene do not decay. They accumulate in the environment and cause a lot of problem. At times, rain water that is collected in polythene bags provides breeding grounds for mosquitoes. Then the problem  becomes worse. 

Although the richer nations like America and Japan produce more waste than countries like Sri Lanka, the problems of waste management are different in the developing world. Those countries have proper waste management systems. Unlike developed nations, we do not have a well-organized means of controlling waste.

The Responsible parties at the centre of the caisis are the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) , the Urban Development Authority  (UDA), the Ministry of Environment and private contractors, For various reasons, these parties have been unable to work together to find a permanents solution to the garbage problem that has been troubling the city of the past 16 years or more. Meanwhile, some officials are blaming one another for the garbage crisis.                                            If this situation continues, we, Sri Lankans will have to live in an extreme unhealthy environment. Therefore immediate steps must be taken to solve this burning issue, The problem of Garbage.
